Why Veteran-Owned Matters — The Reporting For Doody Origin Story
When you hire a service business, you trust strangers with access to your property, your schedule, and your home. Every dog owner eventually asks the same question: Can I really count on these people to show up?
That is exactly why Reporting For Doody exists.

The Service Mindset
Veterans are trained to do three things every single day, no matter the weather, their mood, or what else life throws at them:
- Show up on time.
- Do the job to standard.
- Communicate when it is done.
This is not a marketing line. It is muscle memory. After years of service, you never stop being the kind of person who plans the route, checks the gear, and leaves every worksite better than you found it. We bring that discipline with us to every yard we service.

What That Looks Like On Your Route
We are a small local crew, not a national franchise. Every yard we service is one we keep long-term. That means:
- Same crew, same day, every week. You will recognize our truck, and your dog will too.
- Marked vehicles and uniformed technicians. No unidentified people walking around your yard.
- Text notification after every visit. You always know exactly when we finished.
- Background-checked technicians with full insurance and bonding. Certificates available on request.
- The Doody-Free Guarantee. If we miss anything, we return the same week to re-clean it at no charge.

Why "Sergeant Doody"
Sergeant Doody salutes because we take this job seriously, even though it involves picking up poop. The name is a pun. The reliability is real.

Reporting For Doody, Madison, Wisconsin
After eight years in the United States Air Force with the 115th Fighter Wing, Thomas supported F-16 missions both stateside and overseas. Those years taught him the value of showing up on time, doing the job right the first time, and taking care of the people around him. He still lives by those lessons every day at Reporting For Doody.
The idea for RFD came during our honeymoon in 2019. As Thomas and his wife Rachel discussed how to build something meaningful together after his military service, the perfect concept clicked: a veteran-owned dog waste removal service that delivers military-level reliability to busy Madison-area dog owners.
What started as a side hustle quickly grew into a full-time mission. Today, we serve hundreds of weekly customers. Every scoop, every route, and every customer interaction still carries the same discipline and pride he learned in uniform.
That is why veteran-owned matters at RFD. When you choose us, you are not just getting a clean yard. You are supporting a business built on integrity, accountability, and a promise to always have your back.
The story is simple. Service taught us how to show up. Dog ownership taught us why showing up for someone else's yard matters. Putting those two things together created Reporting For Doody.

We are based in Madison, WI and proud to serve dog owners across 27 cities in South Central Wisconsin, from Sun Prairie to Verona, Middleton to Stoughton, and out to Beaver Dam and Waupun.
